Bat Cast™ – Extra Durable, Real Wood Bats

Virtually Unbreakable, Non-Composite, Real Wood Bats

Baseball is supposed to be played with wood bats. But, as we all know, wood bats can break. Our Bat Cast models seek to solve that problem. The same great maple bats we sell separately are also the basis of our Bat Cast bats. The only difference is the added strength that comes from using a hardened tape on the handle, for superior durability, along with a strong, incredibly durable clear coat.

Other manufacturers have sought to solve the same problem by creating composite bats made with carbon-fiber handles and shells, bamboo centers, or other material. In some cases, there’s only a small casing of wood in the end, whereas most of the bat is something else. Those bats are incredibly durable, but they aren’t real wood bats either, in the sense that they aren’t “one piece of solid wood,” as defined in the rulebook. This means they don’t quite hit the same or as nice as a real wood bat. Our Bat Cast models do, however. They’re real wood inside and out. We strongly encourage people to use the Bat Cast version of our bats, so that you don’t have to worry about it breaking. It’s worth the extra cost. Check out the models below.

What’s with the Tape?

Players have been taping the handles of their bats almost as long as baseball bats have been around. There are two main reasons for this. The first is to improve grip, and the second is to try to protect the handle against splintering. However, most tape can’t do enough to protect against breakage. Our tape, however, does. It’s true that we could follow suit and create a handle out of carbon fiber, bamboo, or fiberglass, but that would refute the entire goal of our approach. We only sell real wood bats. Bats that are one solid piece of wood inside and out. We have no interest in creating composite bats. We want to remain true to the authentic equipment of the sport. Having said that, we also want to keep our bats from breaking, and we see no problem with doing that by taping the handles and adding a durable clear coat. We feel that still plays within the field of authenticity. Plus, it keeps a wood bat a real wood bat, hitting like a real wood bat, which is what we all want.
